Spring is Home + Garden Tour Season!

First up is Riverside Avondale Preservation’s Garden Tour that is set to be held on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This tour brings neighbors and businesses together to share the transformative nature of front yards, backyards, gardens and landscapes that are sure to give inspiration and encourage budding gardening ideas to bloom. Tour admission includes access to several backyards with varying garden styles and some include live music, refreshments, and activities. Flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and beautiful backyards make this tour a great way to spend a Saturday.

Admission also includes access to The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens plus food and drink specials at local restaurants. General Admission is self-guided, although guided tours are available through Go Tuk’n, Art Bikes Jax, and via the Bicycle Tour led by ZenCog.

*Highly recommended by Mothers for a Mother’s Day outing!

Next up is the 42nd Annual Historic Springfield Tour Of Homes And Gardens on May 15 and 16th. The Tour of Homes benefits Springfield Preservation & Revitalization (SPAR), the 501c3 grassroots organization dedicated to preserving the historic character, facilitating investment, and building community in the Springfield Historic District. The Tour of Homes has showcased the unique character of the community for 42 years, and is a major fundraiser for programming and services provided by SPAR Council.

Buy tickets the day of the event.  A tour map and guide will be provided to all guests at the starting location: SPAR Building at 1321 N. Main Street. Many walk or bicycle the Tour route, but some may wish to drive.

There is also a guided bicycle tour edition, FREE with purchase of a regular Tour of Homes ticket and your own bicycle. In this extended version, Leigh Burdett of e2ride bike tours will guide guests throughout the neighborhood, including homes on the Tour, highlighting the historical locations, people and architecture along the way.

The bicycle tour is on May 15 at 1pm and lasts about 3 hours. Contact Leigh at E2ride Bike Tours for more information about the Bike Tour edition, or if you’d like to rent a bicycle and equipment: www.e2ride.com or (904) 945-1571.
