Art Museums in Jacksonville

Have family in town for the holidays and looking for some things to do? Jacksonville has several art museums and galleries where you can explore a wide range of artistic styles and collections and many of them have great holiday events too. Here are some of the notable art museums in Jacksonville:

  1. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens: The Cummer Museum is one of the most well-known art museums in Jacksonville. It features an impressive collection of European and American paintings, as well as a beautiful garden along the St. Johns River.
  2. MOCA Jacksonville (Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville): MOCA Jacksonville focuses on contemporary art and features a rotating selection of exhibitions showcasing a variety of artistic styles and media.
  3. The Ritz Theatre and Museum: This museum celebrates African American history and culture, featuring art and artifacts related to Jacksonville’s African American community.
  4. Jacksonville University’s Alexander Brest Museum and Gallery: Located on the campus of Jacksonville University, this museum features a diverse collection of art and hosts exhibitions throughout the year.
  5. Florida Mining Gallery: This contemporary art gallery features works by both emerging and established artists, with a focus on contemporary and modern art.
  6. Cork Arts District: While not a single museum, the Cork Arts District in Riverside/Avondale is home to numerous galleries and studios, making it a great place to explore local art.

Please note that museum offerings and hours of operation can change, so it’s a good idea to check with the respective museums or galleries for the most up-to-date information, including any new additions that may have emerged since my last update in September 2021.
