Things to do: Bulls Bay Preserve

When you think of Florida, you don’t really think of high vistas, hiking to scenic overlooks – or waterfalls??? Well, once again, in Northeast Florida we have something unexpected to see: a waterfall.

Located in Bulls Bay Preserve in west Jax, which consists of 1,222 acres of wetlands, and has tributaries to the Ortega and Trout Rivers. There is a northern swamp trail off of Imeson Road and and the trail head off Old Plank Road has over two miles of hiking/mountain bike trails including the waterfall loop. The 1 mile loop is considered an easy route for hiking and walking. It takes an average of 15-20 minutes so it’s very easy to explore.

The best times are December through April and the address is: 8017 Old Plank Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32220
